Kids Under Construction is specifically designed to bring the benefits of team and leadership development to your students…and at your location. It emphasizes cooperative effort, effective communication, and We-Before-Me thinking…all while engaging students in a variety of fun and engaging activities. Don’t be fooled by the amount of fun being had, there is some serious growth and team development happening.
Don’t get us wrong, competition is fantastic…in its place. We are some of the loudest cheer-ers at just about every sport known to man. Football, basketball, soccer, cross country…we love them all. And don’t even get us started on the awesomeness that is caber tossing.
There is just so much more to be said for learning how to live and succeed WITH the people around us rather than AGAINST them. In every community we can think of, COOPERATION is the path to the highest levels of involvement, satisfaction, and success.
Students today are learning to navigate an increasingly complicated and, often, disconnected world. They (and we) are in need of intentional and engaging ways to relearn the power and joy of community living.
Enter Kids Under Construction
At first glance, it looks an awful lot like those competitive field days of old. Students are spread out across a field and engaged in a variety of games and challenges. There is running and cheering and laughing and youthful exuberance in abundance. Closer inspection, however, reveals something very different happening. Participants are working together, challenging themselves to be selfless contributors, and measuring success at the team level. Oh, and having a great deal of fun in the process.
Kids Under Construction is specifically designed to be an accessible and inclusive adventure experience for your upper elementary and middle school population. All the games and challenges happen on a flat and open bit of grass and run with just a modicum of supervision and encouragement. We set up the experience at your facility and train your parents or teachers to run each station. Then, together, we make sure that every student has the opportunity to benefit from the Kids Under Construction experience.
A student’s Kids Under Construction experience will be a mixture of running freely and moving with great care, of solving complex group challenges and simply reveling in the moment, of experiencing powerful moments and making space for others to do the same.
